My buddy swore a 60-watt bulb would keep my 1998 iMac from crashing in the cold

I left it in an unheated garage for two days and found the logic board cracked from the heat stress, so has anyone else tried something like this for an old machine that turned out way worse?

Sixty watts sounds like a lot now, I used to think bulbs were harmless.

Oh that's actually not exactly right - sixty watts for a traditional bulb is normal but lumens matter WAY more. A 60W incandescent puts out about 800 lumens which is fine for a room. But an LED bulb that ALSO says 60W equivalent only uses like 9 or 10 actual watts. The number on the box is confusing because they print the "equivalent" wattage in big letters. So when people think theyre using 60 watts theyre usually using way less with modern bulbs. Its the lumens you should look at not the old wattage number. Just a small thing but it drives me CRAZY how they market them.
