Just realized keeping the original 2013 battery in my ThinkPad beat the $70 replacement
Everyone in this hobby keeps saying to swap in a fresh battery the second an old laptop shows its age, but I kept the original one in my X230 and it still gets me 3 hours on a charge. The $70 aftermarket pack I bought back in March died after 11 weeks and lost about 20 percent of its capacity, while the 12 year old stock cell held steady the whole time. I ran both for a month each, same workload, same outlets at my place here in Buffalo, and the old one just kept trucking. Turns out those cheap replacements use weak cells that fade fast, so I'm done buying them. Anyone else had better luck sticking with a tired original than a new knockoff?
