Just blew $60 on a fake battery for my 2005 iPod

I found a deal on eBay for a replacement battery for my old 30GB iPod video, and it said it was new old stock. Turns out it was some cheap knockoff that lasted two hours then puffed up inside the case. Anyone else get burned buying parts from random sellers online?

Used to think any old battery would work in these iPods but nah not anymore. That puffy battery scare is real, sorry you had to learn the hard way too.

Oh totally, @lisa_murray - I had the same wakeup call with a 5th gen iPod classic last year. That battery swelled up so bad it popped the screen right out of the plastic frame. It's crazy how even properly labeled "compatible" ones can be hit or miss, you know? I always check the manufacturing date now before buying.
