Heard a guy at Micro Center say SSD upgrades are pointless for old PCs, is he right?
I was grabbing a USB cable and this dude told his friend that putting an SSD in a 2012 laptop is a waste because the CPU bottlenecks everything anyway. But my own experience with a 2009 ThinkPad was night and day after swapping the drive, so who's really right on this one?

Did you read that Tom's Hardware article where they tested old CPUs with and without SSDs? They showed that even a Core 2 Duo saw huge real-world gains from an SSD because boot times and app loading aren't purely CPU dependent. That guy at Micro Center is way off base, your 2009 ThinkPad proves it.

Honestly my old ThinkPad boots faster than I do in the morning.
