Had to pick between a new screen or a new battery for my 2012 MacBook Pro
My 2012 MacBook Pro finally gave up the ghost last month. The screen started flickering real bad and the battery only held like 20 minutes of charge. I only had about 150 bucks to spend so I had to choose one fix over the other. I went with the battery since I mostly use it docked to an external monitor at my desk in Austin. It was the right call honestly but now I'm stuck with a flickering screen if I ever want to take it to a coffee shop. Has anyone else faced a similar either or decision on an old machine?

Honestly I gotta disagree with going battery over screen on that one. A flickering screen makes the whole machine basically unusable portably, but a crappy battery can still get you through a coffee shop visit if you find an outlet. You basically turned a 2012 MacBook into a desktop only machine with that choice.

basically turned a 2012 MacBook into a desktop only machine" - thats exactly what i needed tho lol. i work from home most days anyway and the external monitor setup is way better for my back than hunching over a laptop.
