Had to choose between a CRT monitor and a period-correct LCD for my Win98 build

I spent three days trying to decide if I wanted the authentic heavy glass look or something that wouldn't destroy my back. Went with the 19 inch Sony Trinitron CRT I found at a thrift store in Portland for 15 bucks. Thing weighs 50 pounds and my desk groans every time I set it down, but Doom looks exactly like I remember from 1998. Anyone else run into desk weight limits with these old beasts?

Stick a steel plate under the desk legs to spread the weight if you're worried about the surface. I had to do that for my 21 inch Mitsubishi CRT and it stopped the wood from bending in the middle. Lighter desks just can't handle that kind of concentrated weight without some help.
