Gave my 2008 Kindle a new battery instead of trashing it

I was this close to tossing my old Kindle in the electronics recycling bin last month. The battery barely held a charge for an hour and I figured it was done for. But I found a $10 replacement kit on eBay that came with a tiny screwdriver and some adhesive strips. Took me about 20 minutes to swap it out following a YouTube guide from some guy in Ohio. Now it runs for two weeks like it did back in 2010. Has anyone else tried fixing an e-reader that seemed dead?

Was it the same battery type or did you have to mod the casing?
