Spent $200 on a hoverboard that barely made it down the driveway

Last summer I got one of those generic hoverboards from an online deal for my kid. Thing died after 3 rides and the battery swelled up scary quick. I should have just stuck with a Razor scooter like my neighbor suggested. Has anyone else had a hoverboard turn into a paperweight that fast?

Yeah, I hear you on that battery swelling thing, that's a real safety hazard waiting to happen.

That "real safety hazard" part is no joke, I've had a phone battery puff up on me before and it's SCARY. Best thing you can do is stop charging it immediately and put the device in a metal container or somewhere fireproof if you can. Don't try to pop that swelling or keep using it, just take it to an electronics recycling place that handles lithium batteries. They have special disposal methods for that kind of thing. And for real, check your device every few months for any bulging or uneven spots on the back, especially if you charge it overnight a lot.
