Finally got my garage door back on track after a 2 week fight
Bent a track section when my helper backed the van into it (yep, that happened). Took me a whole Saturday to get it straight with a block of wood and a sledgehammer, plus another 3 tries to get the tension right on the springs. I'm no garage door guy, just a plumber with too many tools and a stubborn streak. Has anyone else had a DIY fix turn into a full weekend project like that?

Oh my goodness, I had a friend who did something similar with his lawnmower. He tried to sharpen the blade himself and ended up taking the whole engine apart for two days. He had bolts and springs all over his driveway and even had to order a part online. By Sunday night he just wanted to set the thing on fire. Sometimes a simple fix just turns into a big mess for no good reason.

Three days and seven YouTube tutorials is what it took my neighbor to replace a spark plug on his old Craftsman mower. He got the plug out fine, but then he dropped a socket extension down into the cylinder head. That turned a five minute job into a full afternoon of fishing around with a magnet on a stick (which he also dropped, twice). By the end of it his wife was threatening to take his toolbox away for a month. It's like there's a law that says any simple repair has to go through five levels of unnecessary complexity before you're finally allowed to finish it. And the worst part is you can never just walk away once you've started, even when you know it's gonna be a nightmare.
