Found a 1985 Soviet sci-fi film on YouTube that blew my mind
Last week I stumbled onto 'Kin-dza-dza' from 1985, a Russian movie about a bum who gets zapped to a desert planet. The aliens speak a language with just two words and use a little box to teleport. Anyone else seen this thing or am I just digging in the wrong corner of the internet?

I read it inspired the whole "two words" thing in that one Rick and Morty episode.

Dude, @anthony_fox90 totally nailed it about Rick and Morty. The "two words" in Kin-dza-dza aren't just a random gag, they break down into "ku" and "kyu," with like 20 different meanings based on tone and context. There's a whole scene where the bum and the alien just stare at each other going "ku?" "kyu." "ku ku." "kyu." for like five minutes and it's somehow hilarious and deep at the same time. That kind of minimalist worldbuilding is exactly the weird goldmine that Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland dip into. I can totally imagine the writers room watching this flick going "this is the dumbest genius thing we've ever seen.
