Just realized the armory key in John Wick 2 was NEVER actually used

I rewatched the catacombs fight last night and it hit me - they spend like 10 minutes setting up the armory key with the Sommelier but John just shoots his way through that room anyway. Did anyone else catch that the key was completely pointless?

Oh man, that's a good catch. Yeah the Sommelier scene is great but the key basically becomes a red herring. I'd just skip over that whole plot point on rewatches honestly.

My friend skipped that whole episode by accident once.
