After blowing my savings on hype stocks, I finally get why boring funds work
Honestly, I used to chase every hot stock tip I heard online. Tbh, I thought if I didn't act fast, I'd miss out on huge gains. Ngl, I put half my savings into a few companies that seemed sure things. When they dropped, I panicked and sold at a loss. That experience got me to read up on index funds. Now, I invest a set amount each month into a broad market fund. It's simple, it's steady, and I sleep way better at night. For anyone starting out, skip the drama and go with the boring option.

Totally get it now, boring is smart like @markpalmer said.

For me it was just doing the simple version of the thing instead of trying to make it fancy. Sticking to a basic routine felt pointless at first, but then the results actually showed up. You ever notice how the boring method is usually the one that just works? I had to get over my own need to make everything clever or new.
