Saw a neighbor using beach towels as attic insulation, had to step in
I was walking my dog and spotted my neighbor stuffing old beach towels into his attic vent. I explained that it's a fire hazard and doesn't actually keep heat in. He just shrugged and said it matched his coastal decor.

Your DIY band-aid on a broken leg comparison hit home for me. I used to think those quick fixes were okay, but @quinn_lee39, you changed my mind. Now I see that skipping the real repair just causes bigger issues later.
