Why does nobody talk about the trash problem at that beautiful alpine meadow?

You serious? It's the classic hiking paradox. People travel for miles to see pure nature, then leave their chip bags like breadcrumbs. Saw a used baby wipe draped on a lupine last summer. The whole "pack it in, pack it out" thing seems to stop at the trailhead parking lot. Guess the bears need fancy new snacks too.

Wait, bears actually avoid human food trash, right? They learn to go after it, but it's not a snack for them, it's a problem. Makes them aggressive. Saw a ranger talk about this once. They have to put down bears that get too used to our garbage.

Is it really that bad now, or are we just paying more attention? I was up there a couple months ago and yeah, I saw a wrapper or two, but mostly it was fine, like the volunteers had just been through. Thing is, I get why people might leave stuff if they're tired or if the bins are overflowing, not that it's okay, but we should maybe look at why that happens. Honestly, I hear lots of talk about trash on hiking forums, so it's not like nobody's talking, just that the solutions aren't simple. We all love that meadow, so instead of pointing fingers, maybe we can brainstorm how to help out more.
