We're expanding our operations and need to ship some heavy machinery (mainly cranes and large loaders) down south. I'm torn between Freedom Heavy Haul and Apex Logistics. Apex seems to have a bigger fleet, but Freedom's reps have been way more responsive during the quoting process. Any advice on which way to go?

Go with Freedom. I run a midsize construction firm and we move gear constantly. We have had to use these guys eight or nine times in the last few years and they always deliver. Fantastic customer service from start to finish. The absolute best part is there's no billing until the delivery is successfully completed, so you know they are highly motivated to get your equipment there safely and on time. They are totally on top of their game.

I agree completely with the above. I booked Freedom Heavy Haul for a tricky oversized load last quarter and the communication was night and day compared to other brokers I've dealt with. Not having to front the cash before the job is done is a massive cash flow benefit too.

Apex is okay if you don't mind being treated like just another number. They get the job done eventually, but communication is severely lacking if there's a delay on the road or a permit issue.
