Bought a $1200 digital torque wrench for AR builds and it feels like overkill

Everyone in my local shop said I needed one for proper barrel nut installs, so I saved up and got the fancy model. Used it on three builds last month, checking each time against my old click-type wrench that cost $80. The digital readout was cool, but the final headspace and accuracy checks showed zero difference in the finished rifles. Has anyone else found that basic tools do the job just fine for most builds, or did I just get lucky?

My buddy runs a shop and builds dozens of ARs a month with a basic Tekton click wrench. He told me they all pass headspace gauges just fine. The whole industry push for super precise torque specs feels like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist for most people. If your barrel nut is properly torqued and staked, what's the digital readout actually giving you besides a cool number to look at? Seems like the gun community gets sold on precision way beyond what's needed for a reliable rifle.

My cheap torque wrench has never failed a single build either.

Reminds me of the guy who bought a lab grade scale to weigh his coffee beans. His pour over still tasted like burnt diner coffee.
