Pro tip: I keep seeing the same wrong date for a famous event

For years, I've noticed people saying the Challenger space shuttle disaster happened in 1985. I know for a fact it was January 28, 1986. I saw it live on TV in my third grade classroom. I've corrected three people just this month, and they all argued with me until I showed them the NASA page. It's such a specific, sad memory that it feels like a shared fact should be solid. Has anyone else run into a group of people all being wrong about a date you remember clearly?

Yeah my friend was so sure it was 1984, he even bet me twenty bucks. We looked it up and he was totally wrong, it was 1986 like you said @charlesj46. He was so mad, he thought he remembered it from some old VHS tape.
