My car's odometer jumped back 200 miles and I have proof
This happened Tuesday morning on my way to open the shop. I filled up my tank at the Shell on Oak Street, and the trip meter read 312.4 miles since my last fill. I drove the 8 miles to work, parked, and when I got back in after lunch, the trip meter showed 112.4 miles. The main odometer had also rolled back. I checked my gas receipt from the morning, which I keep in the console, and it has the 312.4 written on it. This isn't a case of me misreading it. Has anyone had a digital odometer just reset part of itself like this?

Man, that's wild. My car's trip meter does weird stuff sometimes too, but never a full rollback. I once had it reset to zero after I hit a pothole so hard I thought I lost a tire. Maybe check for a loose connection somewhere? It's the only thing I can think of, but your receipt is pretty solid proof something glitched.

Yeah, the pothole reset is a classic. I had a car where the trip meter would just give up if you turned the key too fast. Loose connection is a good call, but sometimes it's just a dumb computer glitch that never happens again. Your best bet is to keep that receipt and maybe snap a pic of the odometer every time you fill up for a while. That way you have your own log if it tries anything else.

The receipt with 312.4 written on it is pretty solid proof, but did you check if the main odometer went back by exactly the same 200 miles or was it a different number? @the_dylan mentioned the pothole reset thing, but yours happened while the car was parked, not while driving. I'm curious if maybe the car's computer had some kind of memory corruption that just shifted the number, like a decimal point moving over.
