My boss insisted on using a specific sealant for a big storefront job in Phoenix
He said the heat wouldn't crack it, but after one summer, we had three panes with seal failure. Anyone have a better product for extreme sun areas?

Ugh, that's rough. I've actually had good luck with the standard stuff out here, even in summer. Maybe it was a bad batch or the prep work?

Man, for real though. A lot of people skip wiping down the frame with alcohol. I've seen dust just stick to the caulk and it never cures right. Even a little bit of moisture from the morning will mess up the whole job. That brand probably wasn't the issue.

Valwest might be onto something with the prep work angle. Phoenix sun is brutal on any material if the surface isn't perfectly clean and dry. I've seen guys apply sealant over a thin layer of dust or morning dew, and it just peels right off after a few heat cycles. The brand matters less than making sure the glass and frame are spotless first.
