I tried a new graphite paddle versus my old steel one for shaping

Everyone at the shop said the graphite would stick less, but my steel paddle gives me way more control for sharp lines. After three tries with graphite, my pieces just looked soft and rounded. Has anyone else stuck with steel for certain shapes?

Oh man, I'm totally with you. I had the exact same thing happen. Everyone talked up graphite like it was magic, but it just glides too much for me when I need a crisp edge. That lack of drag makes everything come out kind of vague. My old steel paddle feels like an extension of my hand now. I can really dig in and define a corner without it skating away. I switched back after two failed attempts and never looked back.

Feel that so hard. My steel paddle is the only thing that gives me real control anymore.
