Just saw another nature show call a geode a thunder egg
They're not the same thing. A thunder egg is a specific nodule from Oregon, not just any hollow rock with crystals. I had to pause the show and explain it to my wife. Anyone else get tired of this mix up?

Oh man, this drives me nuts too! Rowan is close, but even saying all thunder eggs are geodes isn't quite right. Some thunder eggs are solid agate inside, not hollow with crystals. The real key is that they're those specific round nodules from that one area. TV shows just use the words like they mean the same thing and it spreads the mix-up.

Yeah, the "thunder egg is just a geode" thing is a pet peeve. I mean, all thunder eggs are geodes, but not all geodes are thunder eggs. The specific thing is they have to be rhyolite nodules from like, Oregon and Washington.
