My buddy's garage fridge died after 12 years. What he replaced it with blew my mind.

Went over to help him move it out. Old Kenmore finally gave up. He pulled out a $400 Hisense chest freezer instead of a normal fridge. Says he runs it as a fridge with a temp controller. Keeps beer colder and uses less power. Has anyone else converted a chest freezer like this?

Is this one of those Inkbird controller setups I keep hearing about? I've been tempted to try it myself.

I mean, I've seen people treat Inkbird controllers like they're some kind of game changer, but idk. I set one up for my fermenting chamber and honestly it works fine but it's not like it's doing anything magical. Maybe it's just me but I think people make it sound way more serious than it actually is.
