Can we talk about the difference between a $30 magnetic parts tray and just using an old coffee can

I mean, after losing three small bolts under my workbench last week, I finally bought a proper magnetic tray and it's not even close, because the magnet keeps everything from rolling away when you bump the table.

Spilling a coffee can is exactly the problem, though. The magnetic tray's sides are low, but the strong base magnet holds everything flat and in place. It's not about the sides, it's about the parts not being able to roll into a pile in the first place. That flat, stuck-down spread makes finding the right bolt so much faster.

But have you ever spilled a coffee can full of screws?
