Honestly, a comment on my video review totally changed how I test battery life

I posted a review of the new Anker 737 power bank last month and someone said my 'real world' test of just timing a phone charge was useless. They said I should loop a 4K video on a tablet at 50% brightness until it died. Tbh, I tried their method and got 6 hours 22 minutes, which was way more specific and helpful than my old guess. Has anyone else found a better standard test for power bank reviews?

That "useless" comment hits close to home. My old test was just seeing if my phone would make it through a long bus ride, which, in my experience, is not exactly lab-grade data. Your 4K video loop sounds way better, even if it makes my own lazy methods look pretty bad.

Honestly, that 4K video loop is a solid idea. It gives you a repeatable number to compare between different power banks. My old go-to was just charging a dead phone and seeing what percent it got to, which was pretty useless for actual reviews. The key is finding a test that uses a steady, known amount of power. That way, if one bank gets 6 hours and another gets 8, you know the second one is genuinely better. Just make sure you use the same tablet and same brightness every time.
