Can we talk about travel gadget reviews that ignore field testing?
Lab tests don't show how gadgets hold up on the road.

My buddy Mark got that popular compact power bank with perfect lab scores. Took it to Chiang Mai last monsoon season. The humidity fried its charging circuit in two days. All the lab tests talked about output stability, nothing about tropical air. He ended up buying a basic model from a local stall that worked fine. Really shows you need someone who’s actually been stuck in the rain with it.

Spec sheets never mention real life.

Used to chase those perfect lab scores myself, always checking spec sheets like johnfoster mentioned. Then my own gear failed during a coastal camping trip, just totally gave up in the salt air. Realized all those tests happen in a clean, dry box. A product surviving real dirt and dampness matters way more than numbers on a page. Your buddy's story with the monsoon proves it.
