Graphic designer friend tried working from a cabin, now I'm split on travel for freelancers

Last month, my friend who freelances in graphic design took his laptop to a remote cabin for two weeks. He said the change of scenery sparked new ideas, but he also missed a couple of client deadlines. I see one side where traveling can refresh your mind and help find inspiration. On the flip side, it might mess with your routine and cash flow. What do you all think? Should freelancers embrace work trips or stick to a home office?

Missing deadlines is the worst part for me. I get the inspiration angle, a new place can totally shake loose ideas that sitting at your same desk never would. But if the wifi's bad or you lose track of time, clients don't care about your view. It's a tightrope walk for sure. Maybe the trick is shorter trips or making sure you're ahead on work before you go. Your friend's experience is basically the perfect warning story and ad for it at the same time.

My cousin tried that digital nomad thing in Thailand last year (came back three days early after a cafe's power went out mid-Zoom call).
