My quick fix for casting porosity

Was casting steel parts. Kept getting tiny holes. Frustrating. Shift mate said try faster pours. Gave it a shot. Holes almost gone. Such a simple change.

Man, this reminds me of trying to pour concrete for a backyard slab. We rushed it to beat the rain, and the finish was a total mess, all lumpy and uneven. Sometimes the fix for one problem just makes a new one. You gotta find that sweet spot for each job, you know?

That pour speed fix only works for small simple shapes. Faster filling can cause other defects like cold shuts or turbulence. Sometimes a slow, steady pour is actually the better call.

My last attempt at fast pouring looked like a toddler trying to fill a coffee cup. I mean, maybe I should just stick to the slow and steady method.
