I toured the old steel mill museum in Pittsburgh and saw their original sand-casting patterns.
The level of detail carved into those wooden patterns from the 1920s makes me wonder if we've lost some craft in modern tooling, what's your take on pattern making today?

Modern CNC is crazy precise, but the soul is totally gone from the work.

Lost some craft" feels like a stretch. A CNC machine is just a different kind of tool, and the skill is in the programming. The soul was probably just sawdust and a sore back.
