Spent $40 on a cheap hand truck and it saved my back hauling a solid oak desk I found on Maple Street.
I almost passed on that heavy desk, but the hand truck let me get it home alone, so what's your best curb find that needed a special tool to move?

Saw a post where someone got a cast iron bathtub out of a yard sale using a bunch of moving straps. That thing looked impossible to lift.

How did moving straps make that possible? I always thought you needed a crane.

oh man moving straps are a total game changer, i used them to get this massive old cast iron fire escape ladder out of a salvage yard once. thing must have weighed 300 pounds easy, and me and my buddy just strapped it to our backs like we were hauling a giant dead animal. felt like a total fool but it worked, and that ladder is now the coolest shelf in my garage. hand trucks are great but straps let you carry things that are just way too awkward for a dolly, like that oak desk you got. i bet if you had straps you could have carried that desk up a flight of stairs by yourself too, not just rolled it to your curb.
