Showerthought: I looked up how much stuff gets tossed in my town each month
I was curious after my last big curb find, so I checked our local waste report online. The number for bulky items like furniture and electronics thrown out in just April was over 15 tons. That's a lot of potential finds just going to the landfill. It really made me think about how much good stuff is out there on trash day. Has anyone else ever looked up the numbers for their own area?

Totally get what @nora10 means about the sad truck crush. My local numbers are wild too, so I just set a calendar alert for bulk pickup weeks. Found a solid bookshelf last month that just needed a wipe down. Makes you wonder what else gets missed.

That "good stuff on trash day" line is SO real. My neighbor put out a perfectly good wooden desk last year, just one wobbly leg. I fixed it in ten minutes with a screwdriver and now it's my craft table. The idea of it being crushed in a truck is actually sad. It makes you want to walk the whole neighborhood on bulk pickup weeks.
