That $2 thrift store record turned out to be a rare pressing worth $80

Pulled a dusty copy of a 1978 jazz fusion album from a bin in Denver last Saturday, just thought the cover looked cool. Looked it up later and found out it's a limited pressing from a small Canadian label that only did 500 copies.

my buddy found a beat up old vinyl at a garage sale for a dollar, turned out to be a test pressing of some punk band from the 80s. he sold it on discogs for like 200 bucks. lucky find man.

oh man, that's the dream right there! i had a similar thing happen a couple years back at a thrift shop. i found this old 7" single that looked like someone used it as a coaster, cover was all stained and the sleeve was practically falling apart. i almost didn't pick it up, but i figured for fifty cents why not. turned out it was a rare pressing of a local indie band that only had like 200 copies made, some guy on ebay paid me over 300 for it. i mean, it's totally random luck sometimes, you just gotta dig through the junk to find the gold. idk if i'll ever get that lucky again but it's fun to look.
