I spent $40 on a sealed copy of 'The Great Radio Controversy' by Tesla and it was a total waste

I always thought Tesla was just a hair metal band, so I bought this 1989 vinyl on a whim. After listening, I was blown out of the water by the song 'Love Song' and the whole bluesy, grounded rock sound. It completely changed my view of that whole era. Anyone else have an album that made you rethink a whole genre?

Wasn't that just the best feeling? I had the same thing happen with Extreme's second album. Everyone just talks about that one acoustic ballad, but the whole record is this insane funk metal mix. It made me go back and listen to a bunch of late 80s stuff I'd written off. You find these gems that were doing something totally different.
