I finally dug out my old CD binder from the attic last weekend

I was looking for a specific mix from high school and found a copy of 'The Sunset Tree' by The Mountain Goats from 2005. It's not a super old album, but I swear nobody talks about it anymore... even though it's one of the best story albums ever made. The whole thing is about the singer's rough childhood, and it hits different now than it did when I was 19. Does anyone else have an album from that mid-2000s indie era that just got left behind?

That album's brutal honesty about family trauma still feels raw and important today.

Wait, you're telling me people actually listen to that album with their parents in the car? That's a level of family awkwardness I could never handle.

Miles_grant35 I used to skip this album cause I thought it was too heavy for casual listening. Then a friend made me actually sit with it last year and yeah I was wrong, the storytelling is insane and way more relatable than I gave it credit for. Wild how an album from 2005 can still smack you in the feels like that.
