Hot take: I spent $40 on a sealed copy of 'The Dandy Warhols Come Down' thinking it was a lost classic

Found it at a flea market, got hyped by the cool cover art and the band name. Listened to the whole thing twice and it's just boring, mid-90s alt-rock filler with maybe one okay track. Total waste of cash that could've gone to a record I'd actually play. Anyone else have an album they bought on pure hype that just fell flat?

I gotta push back on the "Souvlaki" take a little, I know @sean_murray already gave his two cents but that album really clicked for me after a few listens. The first time I put it on I felt the same way, pretty noise that didn't land, but letting it play in the background a few more times unlocked something that hit me hard emotionally. Your mileage may vary of course, music is weird like that.

Been there with a copy of "Souvlaki" by Slowdive. Paid way too much online because the internet told me it was life changing. Put it on and just heard a bunch of pretty noise, nothing stuck. Ended up trading it to a friend for a beat up Pixies record I actually love. Sometimes the hype machine just picks the wrong target, you know?

Wait, you traded a clean Souvlaki for a beat up Pixies record? That's the real shocker to me. I get not liking the album, but that's a brutal deal in terms of value. At least you got something you love out of it.
