Spent almost 4 hours trying to get a weeping fig to stop dropping leaves for a corporate lobby install.

Four hours on a lobby plant seems excessive.

Excessive? Not if you want it done right... That's deep cleaning, checking for pests, trimming, and feeding. It's a whole process.

Have you had to deal with a ficus benjamina before? They're notorious for dropping leaves when you just look at them wrong, let alone try to install one in a corporate lobby with all that dry air and artificial light. Four hours sounds about right to me, especially if you're doing it right and not just shoving it in a corner. I've seen those trees stripped bare a week after install because someone didn't take the time to acclimate them or check for spider mites. Better to put in the work upfront than have the client calling you back every other day.
