Pro tip: I see a lot of shops using the same water for all their buckets

I was helping a friend clean out her cooler in Austin and noticed she had one big trash can of water she'd dip from for every vase. After three days, the stems in the last buckets she filled were slimy and drooping way faster. Now I use a clean gallon jug for each bucket fill and change it daily, no mixing. Has anyone found a good way to mark buckets so you remember which water is fresh?

Wait, you're telling me not everyone just uses the same cloudy water until it smells like a swamp? I guess my "one bucket for the whole week" method isn't the pro move I thought it was. Marking the buckets feels like a system I'd set up and then completely ignore by day two.

Marking the buckets and then ignoring the system by day two is the most real thing I've heard all week. That's exactly how my garage cleaning project went. I bought all these nice bins, labeled them "keep," "donate," "trash." By the end, it was just one huge pile of stuff I shoved back in there. Why do we even bother making plans?
