Gave up on floral foam entirely and my designs are better for it

Replacing it with reusable chicken wire has made my arrangements last longer and reduced waste.

Yeah, I swapped to oasis foam too and it holds stems way better.

No kidding! Just make sure you soak it really well first.

My friend tried oasis foam last month after her carnations kept flopping over in regular wet foam. She didn't soak it long enough the first time, just a quick dunk, and it was a total fail. Then she saw @wright.cole's tip about really letting it drink and tried again. The next batch stood up straight for over a week, no drooping at all. She said it was like the stems finally had something solid to grab onto.
