A wedding in Savannah showed me why we need to stop using floral foam

I was setting up a big arch for a client's wedding last spring, and the foam blocks holding the hydrangeas just fell apart in the heat. The bride was an hour away, and I had to wire everything by hand on the spot. That mess cost me about $300 in extra labor and nearly ruined the day. Now I only use chicken wire and moss for my structures, and the designs actually last longer. Has anyone else had a big fail that pushed them to drop foam for good?

Heard it's basically microplastic soup, right?

Honestly that's the scary part. What does it even do to us long term? Feels like we're all part of a messed up experiment.
