A wedding arch in Dallas turned into a 12-hour wiring nightmare

I had a big wedding job last Saturday where the bride wanted a full, flowing arch covered in white hydrangeas and roses. The plan was simple, but the wiring for each stem to stay put in the Texas heat took forever. I thought it would take maybe 3 hours, but I was there from 6 AM until 6 PM just on the arch alone. Has anyone found a faster way to secure heavy blooms on a big structure without them drooping by noon?

Man, that sounds brutal. I wonder if you could cheat and use some of those fake greenery vines as a base to wrap around first. They've got some with a thick, twisty wire inside that holds shape really well, and you could poke the real flower stems right into that mesh instead of wiring every single one to the arch. It might cut down on the individual tie off points.

That's actually a genius hack. The thought of wiring each stem sounds like a special kind of wedding planning hell. Those fake vines with the thick wire core are no joke, they hold a shape forever. You could totally build a solid base and then just tuck the fresh flowers in as you go. Would save so much time and probably look fuller, too.
