TIL an old-timer's trick for squeaky engineered floors actually works

A guy at the supply house in Tacoma told me to sprinkle talcum powder in the seams before the final locking tap. I was skeptical, but on a job last week with that click-lock stuff, it totally silenced the creak. Anyone have other quiet fixes for floating floors?

Guess we're just dusting our floors like giant babies now.

Oh man, @iris_green84, this reminds me of my grandma. She used talc for everything. I mean, she'd put it on her feet, sprinkle it in her shoes, even used it to stop a squeaky door hinge once. That smell just takes me right back to her house. It's wild how a simple powder can be tied to so many random little memories.
