Pro tip: I read a study that said glue down vinyl plank is actually more stable than floating floors in commercial spaces

I was looking at some old industry data from a university in Ohio and they had a whole section on floor movement under heavy loads. The numbers showed floating floors can shift up to 3mm more over a year, which surprised me because everyone pushes the floating method for speed. Has anyone else seen this kind of data or am I reading it wrong?

Always figured floating was the way to go for stability. That data makes a strong case for glue down though. Might have to rethink my next project.

Man, that's a huge relief to hear someone else say that. I've been in buildings where the floating floor in the lobby just felt... wrong under a rolling cart. You could hear little clicks and shifts. Seeing actual numbers on the movement makes so much sense of that weird feeling. It's like the floor is never really settled. What kind of loads were they testing in that study?
