Glue down vs floating click LVP in my Vancouver kitchen remodel
I spent 3 weeks debating between glue down and floating click LVP for my own kitchen in Vancouver. Went with floating click because everyone said it was easier and I got a deal on it. Big mistake. After 6 months the planks started separating at the seams near the dishwasher. The locking mechanism just couldnt handle the thermal changes and foot traffic in a high use area. My buddy Ron who does commercial jobs in Seattle swore by glue down for kitchens and I shoulda listened. He said the full spread trowel method locks everything solid and prevents gapping. I redid it 2 weeks ago with a good pressure sensitive adhesive and its solid as concrete. Anyone here glue down a kitchen and regret it or was it just my bad luck with cheap click?

Floating click is a disaster in kitchens, I learned that same hard lesson with mine.

Oh man, your story makes me want to cry into my coffee because I did the exact same thing. Ron's advice is gold, I wish I had a buddy like that before I went cheap. My floating click floor looks like a jigsaw puzzle that someone stepped on after a few months near the fridge. I had to laugh at myself when I realized I spent more time taping down the loose planks than I would have just doing the glue right the first time. Cutting my losses and going with glue down next time for sure, my back still hurts from crawling around with the flooring mallet.
