Serious question, how do you handle a stuck garage door opener?

Honestly, my garage door started getting really stubborn last week, barely moving an inch when I hit the button. Tbh, I was sure it was a motor issue and I'd need to replace the whole unit. Ngl, after unplugging it and checking the manual, I found the safety sensors were just misaligned from when my kid bumped them with a bike. I cleaned the lenses, realigned them carefully, and plugged it back in. It worked perfectly on the first try, smooth and quiet like new. Such a relief to fix it myself instead of paying for a service call. It's those little wins that make DIY feel worth it. Anyone have a favorite trick for keeping sensors clean?

That sensor trick works sometimes, but honestly a blinking light on the opener usually gives it away. More often for me it's a worn-out gear or a loose chain that causes the real hang-ups. I keep a can of dry lube for the tracks and a socket wrench handy for tightening things up.

Notice how that applies to almost everything at home. Tbh, skipping the small stuff always leads to a bigger headache later.

Dry lube's a good call, @the_seth, keeps the tracks from sticking.
