My old lamp from college started flickering after I moved it to the garage
Turns out the socket was just loose, so I tightened the terminal screws with a small screwdriver and it's been solid for a month now. Anyone know a good way to clean the old brass shade without taking the finish off?

Nice save! Most people would've just chucked it and bought some ugly LED thing. For the shade, try a tiny bit of ketchup on a soft cloth, weirdly enough. The mild acid cuts through tarnish without being harsh. Just wipe it on, let it sit for a minute, then buff it off. Works on old car parts too sometimes.

Gotta try that ketchup trick on my truck's old trim.
