My neighbor's comment about my busted lawnmower changed how I see old tools
I was about to junk my 12-year-old push mower when Mr. Jenkins next door saw me and said, 'That's a good engine, just a dirty carb.' He showed me how to clean it with a $3 can of spray and a socket set. It started on the first pull after that. I used to think old stuff was just trash waiting to happen. Anyone else have a simple fix that saved something you thought was done for?

Ever wonder how much good stuff we throw away over a simple fix?

@lisa_jones21 yeah that hose clamp fix is such a classic. It's wild how we jump straight to 'it's broken' instead of pausing to think. I think people get so used to buying new stuff every few years they forget that most things just need a little attention. It's like a whole mindset shift once you realize how much life is left in old gear.

My dad's old truck had a weird clicking noise for years. Turns out it was just a loose heat shield, fixed it with a hose clamp from the garage. Sometimes the solution is stupid simple.
