My neighbor pointed out my soldering iron tip was totally black and cold
He said 'you're just heating the air, not the joint' and showed me how to tin it properly. I was getting frustrated with bad connections on a radio project, but a clean tip fixed it in minutes. Anyone have a good brand for replacement tips that don't oxidize so fast?

What temp were you running it at?

Honestly I had it set way too high, like 425. Burnt the outside to a crisp before the inside was even close to done. My bad, I was just guessing and clearly shouldn't be lol.

Honestly @taylor.jessica, it's just a bit of burnt food. Not the end of the world, we've all done it. Just turn the oven down next time.
