My kitchen faucet handle snapped clean off on a Tuesday morning.

I was just trying to rinse a coffee mug before work and the plastic post inside the handle broke, leaving me with a useless nub. I found a replacement cartridge at the hardware store for $12, but the old one is stuck in there good after 8 years. Has anyone had luck getting a stuck Moen cartridge out without wrecking the valve body?

...and there I was standing in the kitchen at 6:30 AM, holding the handle in one hand and a coffee mug in the other. I swear, I think I've got the worst luck with hardware. My cartridge is stuck so bad it's not even funny - I've tried PB Blaster, a strap wrench, even tapped on it with a screwdriver. The heat gun idea from the other commenter is actually solid, I used one on a stuck shower valve once. Just be careful not to melt the plastic part inside the valve body. You might also try a cartridge puller tool from the hardware store, they're like $15 and saved me a headache on a similar Moen unit. Good luck, I feel your pain more than you know.

My plumber used a heat gun on low.
