I was stripping screws on every project for years
A guy at the hardware store saw my stripped Phillips head and asked if I was using the right bit. He showed me a JIS standard screwdriver, which looks identical but fits better. Has anyone else made this switch and noticed a difference?

My uncle ran an auto shop for thirty years and swore by Phillips for everything, even on Japanese bikes. He said the whole JIS thing was just an excuse for people using worn out bits or cheap tools. I've tried both on my old Honda and honestly can't tell the difference if you just push hard enough. Sometimes a solution is simpler than buying another special tool you'll lose.

Tell that to wade558's stripped screws, they don't lie.

Tell that to the stripped screw heads on my old Kawasaki. Pushing harder just means buying more screws later. Your uncle must have had magic hands or really cheap parts.
