Appreciation post: The $2 tube of super glue that saved my favorite lamp
I was about to trash it because the ceramic base cracked clean in two, but a guy at the hardware store told me to clamp it tight for a full 24 hours, not just a few. Has anyone else fixed something you thought was a lost cause with just glue and patience?

My old wooden salad bowl split right down the middle last year. I used titebond wood glue and a whole roll of packing tape to hold it, left it for two days. It's still holding up, which is wild for a ten dollar fix.

That packing tape trick is genius, @price.alice. Did you wrap it all the way around the bowl or just over the crack?

Pretty sure from the way price.alice described it, she wrapped the tape tight all the way around the bowl. I've fixed a few cracked plates and bowls over the years, and just taping over the crack alone never holds long enough. You gotta put pressure from both sides to really squish the glue into the wood fibers. Did you have any trouble with the tape leaving a sticky residue after you peeled it off? That's always been my biggest worry with using packing tape for stuff like this.
