TIL my $30 budget app saved me from a big mistake
I was about to buy a new phone for $800, thinking I had the cash. I opened my spending tracker on a whim and saw I'd already spent over $400 on random stuff this month. That extra cost would have maxed my credit card. I put the phone back and felt my stomach drop. Anyone else have a close call like that because they checked their numbers?

Feel that stomach drop moment for sure... had something similar happen last week with a concert ticket. Almost bought it before checking my bank account, and man, the timing was awful. Those little checks really do save you from a world of stress later. Makes you wonder how many close calls we all have without even knowing.

The $400 I spent this month was mostly on tacos and a pair of boots I didn't need. My tracking app basically called me out for having no impulse control. I once bought a $60 candle thinking it was on sale, then saw my app calculated it as 4% of my monthly fun money. That hit harder than the bank overdraft fee. These apps are basically digital therapists with better math skills. I swear my phone screen judges me every time I open it.

Ever track down what that "random stuff" actually was? Sometimes seeing the list is even more shocking than the total.
